Idea Ranch
Visit Wichita
Challenge
Destination marketing has a sameness problem. Cities blur together, built from the same handful of photos, layouts, and promises, which is a strange thing to hand a traveler who is trying to decide where to go next. Visit Wichita's 2026 leisure campaign needed a point of view that belonged to Wichita alone, so Idea Ranch created an idea no other city could claim.
Insight
Wichita sits slightly off the geographic center of the country, and it has a personality to match. It is, literally and figuratively, Slightly Off Center. The category leans soft, muted, and perfected, so our campaign went loud, fully saturated, and comically real. This pivot from the norm makes the work recognizable before a single word gets read. And in a sea of soft skylines and smiling siblings, this is a huge advantage.
The foundation of our campaign is our docu-style photography and video. We captured moments a potential traveler would read as exciting, fun, and most importantly, real. But getting them took work. Production ran multiple days across the city and covered more than 40 locations. From a James Beard recognized dining room to a pool where you swim with otters, every location had to pass one test. Was it Slightly Off Center?
